Condition Assessment for Bridges under Multi Hazards (桥梁多灾害评估)

Multi hazards are decisive factors for the bridge design, construction, and management. Bridges, being designed using conventional standards/codes/regulations, are vulnerable to significant multi hazards, and even collapse, when subjected to medium-to-strong exceptional load conditions due to wind, wave, current, and earthquake, etc. Cases are usually that some loadings have played crucial roles in dominating the structural behavior, while some actions come to play occasionally bringing detrimental, at most times, or beneficial effects to the bridge structure. The prominent pure random nature of the physical loadings and incomplete knowledge on their joint actions complicate the bridge design, construction, and management. In this regard, this special session welcomes all the opportunities on condition assessment for bridges under multi hazards to define reliable, adequate, and constructive guidelines.
